Marina and the Diamonds go Radioactive
Marina and the Diamonds broke out in 2010 with The Family Jewels, which featured a fun pop sound that fused retro soul with quirky indie pop sounds, like Florence + The Machine.
But, their new song “Radioactive” is taking a very different direction.
Produced by Stargate, who worked with Beyoncé, Rihanna and Katy Perry, the one-off single is a straight-up dance track.
At first, I was a little worried to hear that Marina and her band were going in this direction. After all, their unique sound is part of what got them the critical attention they deserved.
But, the track is actually pretty solid and probably a smart move. After all, they can only stay in that vein for so long before it sounds stale and working with such a big name producer might help get them a bigger crowd in North America.
