Lykke Li is a drunk bitch. And I like it.

Lykke Li seems to be on a real cinematic bend for the singles off her latest album Wounded Rhymes

Her videos for "Get Some" and "I Follow Rivers" are simple concepts, but that doesn't mean simple plot lines. There's a sense of a deeper story behind each video and they're all so gorgeously shot that you have to appriciate them as works of short cinema, really.

Her latest video for one of my fave tracks on the album "Sadness is a Blessing", follows suit.

The video starts in a fancy frou frou restaurant with Lykke playing a bitter, self-entitled daughter, daringly doing shots of vodka in front of her father (I hope it's her father), played by Stellan Skarsgård (as in the dad of Alexandar "Eric" from True Blood Skarsgård).

Lykke's hysterics continue as she starts dancing like a girl possessed while all the patrons try not to balk in horror.

Again, it's very simple, but somehow moving because I want to know more. I feel like I just walked in on a scene in the middle of a movie and I'm left wondering what happened.

Lykke Li scares me now

In her new video for "I Will Follow", Lykke Li kinda creeps me out.

There she is, shrouded in black robes, chasing a man through the snowy woods. It's the stuff nightmares are made of.

But then, at the end, the man stops running and Lykke showers him with kisses. And it's then that I realize the song isn't about blind devotion, as I originally thought. It's a well-informed devotion, actually.

It seems that Lykke is promising that she will follow her lover, no matter how dark and stormy the waters of his mind is. That she's willing to accept him for all his faults and that he can run all he wants, but she'll be there to deal with his shit.

Sweet... in a dark and twisty way.

Lykke Li taps into her inner Wiccan mobster

So, I got this in my e-mail, and I have no idea what it's supposed to be.

It's a gorgeously shot video of Lykke Li on the beach doing some kind of Pagan ritual. She's stabbing the sand. She's throwing a deck of cards. She's playing with a switchblade.

There's no music for the first half. But, when the music does come in, it's a very lush, sensual instrumental track.

If I had to interpret what was going on in the video, I'd think that she was enacting metaphors for how you handle your heart. You cast a spell for love. You take a gamble. You defend it fiercely.

But, that could be just the romantic in me talking.

Whether this is just a random art piece, or a strange bit of viral marketing, I like it. And I can't wait for her new album Wounded Rhymes to drop.

What do you think is going on here?

Let's follow Lykke Li

We've still got a little while to wait before Lykke Li releases her second album Wounded Rhymes, but she's just released a second single, "I Follow Rivers".

Musically, it shares the same tribal-influenced sound as the amazing "Get Some", but lyrically it seems to be polar opposites to the lead single.

While "Get Some" seemed to be about sexual empowerment and conquests, "I Follow Rivers" seems to be a love song, with water imagery painting a picture of blind devotion to a lover. Perhaps too blind?

After all, we've all been in situations where love goes unrequited. And no matter what we are told, we still venture out into unchartered territory, to risk drowning.

Sure, this may be a cynical interpretation of the song, but with an album title like Wounded Rhymes, who can blame me?

Lykke Li gets some

Lykke Li debuted her new track "Get Some" the other week, and now we have the awesome video.

The defiant and strong sexual stance she takes is emphasized using clips from, what looks like, old sexploitation b-movies where the women have enslaved men. Pretty clever.

And while Lykke's performance is pretty simple, she commands your attention and dares you to go "get some" - but be careful. It looks like there are spikes on her crotch!

I think it's a very empowering video, showing that sometimes a woman needs to get dirty without dressing like a skank or sexualized child (Miley!)

Also, I never noticed how much Lykke looks like Lady Gaga! Weird.

Lykke Li wants to be your prostitute

Sweden's other hot indie pop act, Lykke Li, is readying her new album Get Some.

And to whet our appetites, she's released a graphical video for the title track (the official video will be released soon, she promises).

What you'll notice right away is Lykke's new firm stance on her sexuality. Gone is the coy girl looking for love, or the vulnerable victim of heartbreak. Now, she's in charge with bold proclamations such as "Like the shotgun/I can't be outdone" and "I'm your prostitue, you gon' get some".

Even the music sounds stronger and more menacing. Something tells me you don't want to mess with her, cuz she's had enough in the bad romance department.

If you're a fan, sign up for her mailing list and you'll get the single and it's b-side "Paris Blue" for free!
