I'm beating a dead horse, but...

So, everyone's been going on about the similairites between Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and Madonna's "Express Yourself" ad nauseum.

But, while everyone is hating, at least one person has used this as an opportunity to create a very well-executed cover mash-up of the songs, with a sprinkling of Madonna's "Jump" and Kylie's "Better Than Today".

Omar Afuni is a new dance artist who has his album available for free online and he's done a created a really great track that combines all of these great pop songs that share a similar message of empowerment.

He kinda put me in my place. Instead of getting my hate on, I should have just celebrated the music.

But, then again, that's not as fun. ;)

Someone, please throw Patrick Stump a bone

Wow.

I guess since Fall Out Boy has been on "indefinite hiatus", things have been rough for lead singer Patrick Stump. Because he's now resorted to posting videos of him doing a capella mash-ups of some recent hit songs.

There are so many things wrong with this, I need to make a list.

  1. He's an established musician. Why is he resorting to tactics normally reserved for people who are hoping to get noticed in a sea of YouTube videos?
  2. This is not how you audition for Glee.
  3. He's not black. (Though he does sing with soul).
  4. What's with the bowtie? Why is he so dressed up in a room that is such a mess?
  5. And if he has so much free time, shouldn't be doing something... legit?

On the plus side, looks like he's lost some weight. I guess that's something.

Then again, Pete Wentz has ditched the flat iron, so maybe they're all just throwing in the towel.

A 66-minute Madonna mash-up? Yes, please!

DJ Enferno, who toured with Madonna on her "Sticky & Sweet Tour" a couple of years ago, has released a 66-minute mash-up of Madonna songs and remixes.

Yes, I'm in heaven.

I mean, "Vogue" vs. Far East Movement? "Hung Up" vs. New Order? "Ray of Light" vs. Depeche Mode? This is just all kinds of amazing.

My only qualm is that it focuses a bit too much on her Hard Candy album about halfway through.

Now I need to throw a Madonna party just for an excuse to play it.

Stream it OR download it for free, below.

Us gays are so easy to please

Here comes an amazing mashup!

We've got Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" battling Whitney's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" over the music of La Roux's "Bulletproof", with a random Taylor Swift verse thrown in.

You know, Taylor Swift wouldn't be so bad as a dance artist.

And the best thing about this song is that they didn't use La Roux's vocals. I can't stand her voice. She sounds like an owl in heat.

The year in pop music

It seems that DJ Earworm is making a bit of a New Year's tradition by releasing amazing mega mash-ups of the year's biggest pop hits. And this year, he doesn't disappoint.

Relive some of the biggest chart movers in one fun and easily-digestible track, including hits from Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Rihanna, Taio Cruz, Enrique, Eminem, Gaga and many many more. So well done!
