Posterous theme by Cory Watilo

Nicki Minaj continues to unimpress me

I think I'm the only one on the planet who's not seeing all the hype around Nicki Minaj.

I've said before that she seems way more interesting when she's a guest artist on other people's songs, but when it comes to her own music, she'd just damn boring. Her visuals and music style seems to be stuck in the 90s and there's nothing that arrests my attention. Not even her big ass.

In her latest video for "Super Bass", she sticks to her pink Barbie theme, with a wig that looks like it got in a fight with Ke$ha, and sing-raps about being infatuated with a hot guy. And there are plenty of hot guys in the video, including a Jersey Shore wannabe who I couldn't help but ogle.

The black light scene at the end is cool, but only because I was wondering how they lit it. That would have been a tricky thing to shoot. And when I'm watching a video filled with skimpy outfits, topless men and booty galore and the one thing I'm wondering about is lighting, you know you've got a problem.

Britney, Nicki and Ke$ha usher in the end of the world

As if my favourite Britney song could get any better!

"Till The World Ends" makes me jump around like an idiot against my will. I can't help it, that song is just so infectious.

And now, we get a crazy good remix featuring Nicki Minaj, who is opening for Britney's tour, and Ke$ha, who wrote the song. The song gets a bit of a dubstep influence, while Nicki delivers a crazy rap that only Nicki can deliver. Strange accents and catchy wordplay abound and she pretty much steals the show. Britney's vocals remain the same and Ke$ha sings the chorus.

I'll admit, the beginning does sound a bit choppy, but it eventually finds it legs and gets going. I mean, it's pop's princess with two of music's hottest female acts.

I think I still prefer the original, but as far as remixes go, this is pretty epic.

Nicki Minaj is kind of lame

I don't get it.

Nicki Minaj has this reputation as being a crazy, over-the-top, visually entertaining artist. And she is, but in other people's videos. Not really her own.

I mean, her videos started off strong with "Your Love" and "Check It Out", but then with "Right Thru Me", she just became straight up boring. Talk about a snooze fest of a video.

And now, she's released her latest video "Moment 4 Life" featuring Drake. It's her take in Cinderella, I guess. It's got a really annoying intro. And then the song is a slow jam and all that happens is Nicki poses in various wigs before she finally makes out with Drake.

What is with this chick? My friend Kathleen commented that it looks like an old school 90s R&B video... but in a bad way.

It's a shame she saves all of her best stuff for other people's work.

Kanye's Monster is unleashed

Hot damn!

The highly anticipated video for "Monster" by Kanye West has leaked. And it's an epic one.

Featuring Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and (an unseen) Bon Iver, the video is filled with zombies, ghouls, corpses and dismembered body parts. It's quite graphic, yet also very stunning to watch.

It does remind me a bit of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" video, but Kanye takes it to a whole new level.

I have to give props to Nicki. Not only does she steal the song, but she also steals the video with the best scene.

Anyway, check it out...if it hasn't been pulled already.

Kanye West is a monster

Awwwwwww shit!

"Monster" is my favourite track from Kanye's amazing new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and I'm stoked that it's going to be released as the new single.

A preview for the video, which also features Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver, was released today and the video looks amazing. Lots of dead girls, scary faces and Nicki's big ass.

I can't wait for the full video.

will.i.am needs to stop

will.i.am needs to stop. Stop sampling 80s songs. Stop with the 808 drum. Stop using Auto-Tune (as a colleague put it, T-Pain wants his gig back).

His new collaboration with Nicki Minaj "Check It Out" dropped today. All I can say is... meh.

I know Nicki Minaj is supposed to be the bee's knees of hip hop these days, and while I recognize her skills, I also don't think she's all that.

Besides, she's totally ripping off Toronto drag queen Donnarama's facial expressions.
